The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the new dates for the UGC NET examination, which was previously cancelled due to transparency issues. According to the notification released by NTA today, the rescheduled examination will take place from August 21st to September 6th this year.
In addition to the new dates, the NTA has decided to switch back to a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format. The previous examination, which was conducted offline using OMR sheets, faced transparency concerns leading to its cancellation. The return to CBT aims to enhance the examination's transparency and efficiency. Candidates are advised to prepare accordingly and stay updated through the official NTA website.

UGC-NET
The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) or NTA UGC NET is a national examination designed to determine candidates' eligibility for assistant professor roles, junior research fellowships, or PhD enrollment.
Scheduled for 83 subjects, the UGC NET 2024 syllabus varies per subject and is set by the University Grants Commission. Since June 2018, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has conducted the UGC NET, previously managed by CBSE.
Recently, the UGC NET exam held on June 18, 2024, across India, was administered offline using OMR sheets. On June 19, 2024, it was cancelled following reports from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) about potential integrity breaches. Over 900,000 students took the exam aiming for PhD eligibility, junior research fellowships, and assistant professor positions in universities and colleges. In response, the Education Ministry has tasked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) with a thorough investigation.
