TNSET at a Glance
The Tamil Nadu State Eligibility Test (TNSET) is a state-level entrance examination for candidates aspiring to become Assistant Professors in colleges and universities in Tamil Nadu. The TNSET follows the UGC-NET pattern and consists of two papers.
Exam Structure:
Paper I: Common to all candidates, this paper assesses general knowledge, teaching and research aptitude, reasoning ability, reading comprehension, higher education system, people and development, environment, mathematical aptitude, divergent thinking, and general awareness. It consists of 50 questions worth 100 marks.
Paper II: Based on the PG subject chosen by the candidates from the TNSET list of subjects, this paper tests the candidate's domain knowledge. It consists of 100 questions worth 200 marks.

- Both papers are objective type and include multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
- The exam is conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.
- There is no break between the two papers.
