Understanding WB SET
The West Bengal State Eligibility Test (WB SET) is a state-level examination organized by the West Bengal College Service Commission. This exam, akin to the UGC NET, assesses candidates through two written papers. Succeeding in the WB SET paves the way for career advancement in academia, specifically for Assistant Professor positions in West Bengal’s colleges and universities. WB SET 2024 Eligibility Criteria
Academic Qualifications:
A Master’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (50% for reserved categories).
Candidates awaiting results or those with delayed qualifying exams can apply, provided they meet the required marks later.
Ph.D. holders who completed their Master’s by September 19, 1991, receive a 5% marks relaxation.
Transgender candidates receive the same relaxations as SC/ST/PWD candidates.
Candidates who passed the UGC NET/CSIR JRF before 1989 are exempt from WB SET.
Age Limit:
There is no upper age limit to apply for the WB SET 2024 exam.
Subject Eligibility:
Applicants must choose the subject they studied at the postgraduate level. If their specific subject is unavailable, they may select a related one.
Application Fee Structure :
When applying for the WB SET 2024 online, candidates must pay the following fees:
- General: INR 1200
- OBC-NCL/EWS: INR 600
- SC/ST/PwD: INR 300
WB SET 2024 Exam Pattern
The WB SET exam consists of two papers:
